World War 1 began in August 1914. On the Western Front both sides reached a stalemate. Soldiers from Britain and Germany huddled in freezing, muddy trenches, shells and bullets exploding around them, in one of the most futile and bloody conflicts of the 20th century.

Then on Christmas Eve 1914 for one brief, magical moment the guns fell silent, the spirit and glory of Christmas shone across the battlefields of Flanders. Dirty, tired, war weary soldiers from both sides climbed from their trenches to enter no-man’s-land and to meet one another, to share chocolate, to tell stories, and even to play a game of football. England lost again!

This was such special event we had to publish Happy Christmas Tommy based on this extraordinary event. To download it or hear 2 songs go to https://bit.ly/2HLhm3t
